Question:
How do I ensure correct sizing of my fire sleeve?
Answer:
Sizing will depend on several factors, including the length of the line to be sleeved, number and radii of curves, surface friction of the line, and appearance required. A common ‘rule of thumb’ is to measure the outside diameter (OD) of the line, and add approx. 15% to arrive at the ideal inside diameter (ID) of the sleeve. Where the sleeve is required to pass over fittings or long lines, an additional margin should be allowed, and where appearance is critical (such as on race cars), a smaller sleeve may be acceptable. Thermaguard's fire sleeve will expand to accommodate many hose fittings, however remember that tighter sleeves may take longer to fit. Some applications may have legislated size requirements.
Question:
How should I secure and finish the ends of the sleeve?
Answer:
Each end of sleeve should be finished using Thermaguard™ proprietary silicone end seal tape, which adheres only to itself and the sleeve to reduce possibility of contamination ingress. Sleeve should be fastened approx. 10mm from each end, using a stainless steel hose clamp or cable tie (zip tie). Some applications may also have legislated securing and finishing requirements.

How soon can I expect delivery?
Answer:
Thermaguard™ dispatches the majority of orders from our warehouse the same day, and we only use recognised, fully traceable national carriers. This ensures delivery within 2-3 days for most Australian destinations. If that’s not fast enough, overnight and direct delivery is available on request – just ask! Delivery timeframe for special-order products will be advised at time of order.

Answer:
Thermaguard™ Aerospace Grade Fire Sleeve is manufactured to a recognised international standard, AS1072. This Standard covers areas such as thickness of the silicone rubber outer layer, chemical resistance, operating temperature, and size tolerances. ‘Industrial’ Fire Sleeve is manufactured from a knitted fibreglass instead of braided, and is not manufactured to a standard or performance level. This means that it is very difficult to a) compare brands, and b) ensure consistency of performance, because there is no benchmark. Thermaguard™ Aerospace Grade Fire Sleeve is your best guarantee of a consistently high level of performance.
